Shopify Flow

You can cover many B2B processes with Shopify Flow, using ready-made workflows that we've built and tested for you. This page explains what Shopify Flow is, how to import our workflows, and which workflows are available.

What is Shopify Flow?

Shopify Flow is a free automation app made by Shopify. It lets you automate tasks in your store with workflows. Each workflow has three parts:

  • Trigger: the event that starts the workflow, such as Order created or Customer created.

  • Condition: the rule that decides whether the workflow continues, such as order total is greater than $5,000.

  • Action: what happens next, such as adding a tag, sending an email, or holding fulfillment.

Once a workflow is turned on, it runs automatically in the background every time its trigger happens.

Shopify Flow is available on most Shopify plans. If you don't have it yet, install it for free from the Shopify App Store.

How to use workflows

Each workflow comes as a .flow file. You download the file, import it into Shopify Flow, and turn it on.

  1. In the Workflows table below, find the workflow you need and click its download link. A .flow file is saved to your computer.

  2. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Flow.

  3. Click Import.

  4. Select the .flow file you downloaded, then click Import. The workflow opens in the editor.

  5. Review the trigger, condition, and action. Update any store-specific values, such as tags, email addresses, or amounts.

  6. Click Turn on workflow.

  • Imported workflows are turned off by default. Check every step before you turn a workflow on, especially values marked as placeholders, so the workflow doesn't run with the wrong settings.

  • Want to test first? Place a test order or create a test customer that matches the workflow's condition, then check the workflow's Run history in Shopify Flow.
